i agree. i know i said in an earlier post that i thought it would make a good single, but i have since figured out what it is about the song that bothers me: it's the lyric. 'have you know name?, what is her name?, what is your name?', etc. it gets on my nerves a bit and sort of reminds me of that horrid song about going through a desert on a horse with no name. every time i hear that song i say to myself 'just name the darn horse and stop singing about it!!'. so, from a lyrical perspective, i sort of have the same response to 'caravan girl': just ask her her name and stop singing about it! couple that with the psychedelic 'runaway! runaway!' part of the song, and well, it just seems a bit over the top to me.
not sure if any of that makes sense, but i will now end my rant about pop stars singing about nameless things. _________________ http://computerlove-popmusic.blogspot.com

Just thought I would tell people what a fantastic night that I had watching Goldfrapp play at Bristol Colston Hall.
This was probably one of the best Goldfrapp gigs I have seen in about 6 years.
The set list was a good mixture although technical problems with Angie's equipment meant that the encore was shortened to one song. A change of plan lead to Alison performing 'Clowns' which was simply beautiful, it is amazing how a technical problem turned out for the best!
Utopia was performed as powerfully as always, but the surprise for me was the epic version of 'Little Bird' which was just stunning. I now remember why Goldfrapp are such a clever talented bunch of musicians.
I am still buzzing from last night.
Here is last nights set list:
Paper Bag
A&E
Utopia
Cerrone houdini - Should really have been a single
You Never Know
Satin Chic
Eat Yourself
Little Bird - Epic version
Number One
Happiness
OLL
Caravan Girl
Train - This got the crowd dancing!
Clowns - Beutiful |

You just gotta love Goldfrapp! Just found the track, and yes, once again they're off in a completely new (and, might I add, unexpected) direction. You can think what you like about them, but predictable they are not! Anyway, this makes me smile and feel good all over. Perfect start to the weekend... |

It didn't grab me at first but having heard it a few times now, I love it especially the chorus and synths at the end.
I suppose there's a bit of a Laura Branigan / Italo disco retro-vibe going on...it actually does sound like it was from the mid-80s! _________________ "Communication is never simple"! |

I've given Head First a good few spins now, and I'm sorry to say that it's just not grabbed me like their previous albums did. Eveytime I listen to it, I find myself "tuning out" to the point where I stop even hearing it. It just seems to have more filler than the bodywork of a dodgy secondhand motor .
I read somewhere that they put this album together to avoid being pressured by the record label to put out a Greatest Hits package. If that is the case, then perhaps they should have relented in order to give themselves more time to work on the new material. _________________ Sean |

I agree that the album is not the greatest thing GOLDFRAPP have ever done but it's not that bad and I've found it quite an enjoyable, fun listen.
This is my take on it if you're interested:

I think Head First is Goldfrapp's best and most consistent album: there's not a single track I don't like. _________________
